As Amazon Prime Day has come and gone, we’ve stopped updating this post with sales and can’t promise the ones below are still available. Check back later this year for updated deals.
Amazon Prime Day round two is here, which means magnificent markdowns on top-selling pet products. Amazon will slash prices on everything from treats and toys to litter boxes and leashes. From now until 11:59 PM PDT June 22, the sales are ongoing.
You can sign up for a free 30-day Amazon Prime membership to take advantage of the sale right now. And if you want to shop a bit more locally, Amazon now has Amazon Handmade, and you can shop by region to help support small businesses.
Here's everything we know about the sale, and how you can save big this spring. Be sure to bookmark the page as we'll continue to update with the best sales we see.
When is Amazon Prime Day 2021?
This year's Prime Day starts at 12 AM PDT on Monday, June 21, and runs through 11:59 PM PDT on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. The exact date of Amazon Prime Day varies from year to year—which is all part of the excitement.
Since its debut in 2015, Prime Day has always taken place in July—with the exception of 2020, when Prime Day was pushed to October for pandemic-related reasons.
What is Amazon Prime Day?
Prime Day is Amazon’s annual mega-sale event (think along the lines of Cyber Monday). What started as a 24-hour sale (hence Prime “Day”) has since morphed into a 48-hour extravaganza. It’s clear why shoppers get so excited: Amazon slashes prices across its shopping categories—including pet supplies!
Do I Need to Be an Amazon Prime Member to Shop Prime Day Deals?
Amazon Prime Day deals are exclusively for Amazon Prime members. Not a Prime member? No problem; Amazon offers a 30-day free trial of Prime membership that’ll grant you access to Prime Day sales if you time it right. You can cancel anytime, but after 30 days, membership costs $13/month.
In addition to Prime Day sales, Prime membership unlocks free two-day shipping on eligible products, including thousands of pet items. Feeling like your feline could use a new cat bed? Buy one that’s Prime-eligible (lots are) and it’ll arrive at your doorstep two days later. The same applies to dog food, rabbit crates, gerbil wheels, and quite literally any other pet essentials you’d typically buy at a pet store.
Another fun feature for pet lovers: Amazon allows you to create profiles for your pet(s), complete with space to upload a picture(s), details about your pets’ preferences, as well as personalized shopping recommendations based on past purchases, so it's easy to keep track for the future.
What Other Brands Have Sales Around Prime Day?
We’re keeping our ears perked for other mega-sales that may pop up alongside Amazon Prime Day in June. For instance, Target, Nordstrom, and Walmart all hosted their own big sale right in step with Amazon’s last year. Keep checking back for updates.
Embark Breed + Health Kit
Normally $199, Now $135
A Spruce favorite, this doggie DNA test provides the most accurate results of any we've tried. Perhaps an example of “you get what you pay for,” Embark does have a higher-than-average price tag. In addition to revealing fun details about your pup’s traits and breed(s), this particular kit tests for genetic markers of potential health watch-outs, too. Rest assured that results are truly science-backed; Embark kits were created in partnership with Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Wisdom Panel Essential Dog DNA Test
Normally $100, Now $70
If you’ve ever wondered why your dog behaves a certain way, or whether your pup is genetically predisposed to certain health issues, this DNA swab kit may provide interesting insight. Notably, Wisdom Panel has the largest dog-DNA database on the market, with over two million entries.
ANGRY ORANGE Citrus Pet Odor Eliminator Spray
Normally $30, Now $16
Fun fact: Snoop Dogg loves this stuff. In case that’s not enough of a selling point, though, check out the rave reviews, which tout the product’s ability to nix stubborn pet-related odors from a range of surfaces, including wood, tile, and carpet. The formula is made with pet-safe ingredients—orange oil being chief among them. Bonus for cat-owners: since felines dislike the smell of citrus, this spray doubles as a scratch-repellent.
Shark IQ Robot Self-Empty XL AV1010AE IQ Robot Vacuum
Normally $600, Now $320
Robot vacuums are game-changers for busy pet owners. This fan-favorite boasts Alexa compatibility, its own internal navigation system that maps out your house for precision cleaning, and—perhaps most enticingly—a brush roll that cleans itself.
WellToBe Pet Feeder Food Dispenser
Normally $110, Now $93
Perfect for multi-pet households, this automatic pet feeder makes it easy to portion out and dispense food at mealtime. It has a 13-cup capacity and three removable stainless steel bowls. Plus, it has a scheduled feeding function and voice-activated capabilities. Keep in mind this feeder can only accept kibble under .47 inches.
WOPET Automatic Pet Feeder Food Dispenser
Normally $140, Now $73
This gizmo feeds your fuzzball when you’re away. The dispenser, which can hold up to four pounds of dry food, allows you to schedule up to four feeding sessions per day. You can also record an accompanying mealtime message so your pet knows when it’s time to chow down.
Bissell air320 Smart Air Purifier with HEPA and Carbon Filters
Normally $329, Now $219
Thanks to three different filters, this air purifier traps virtually all micron air particles—including pet dander, hair, dust, and food smells. It’s no surprise this air filter has gleaming reviews from pet parents—many of whom say this thing’s a must for multi-pet households.
LEVOIT H13 True HEPA Filter Air Purifier
Normally $89, Now $69
In a category brimming with bulky devices, this air purifier stands out thanks to its compact, low-profile design. Tech touches like Amazon Alexa/Google Home connects complement its sleek stature, and a built-in night light makes it perfect for bedrooms.
Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Treatment for Dogs
Normally $68, Now $52
Summertime means flea and tick season is in full swing. Keep your dog protected with this treatment from Frontline. It's waterproof and kills adult fleas, eggs, and ticks that may transmit Lyme disease, so your pup can run freely outdoors.
Embark Breed Identification Kit
Normally $129, Now $99
A pared-down version of the Embark DNA test listed above, this particular kit is a good entry point if you’re on the fence about splurging on a DNA swab kit. Both Embark kits use the same research-grade genealogy testing; both break down breed makeup; both show other pups with similar DNA. The key difference? This one does not include health reports. If you decide you’d like to add health information later, though, simply pay a fee to upgrade to the more robust kit. (Since the lab will already have your pupper’s sample, you won’t need to swab again.)
