If you're a casual aquarium hobbyist, you likely refer to fish by their common names, but if you want to learn more about the fish, you need to know its Latin scientific name. Some common names and scientific names may be the same (tetras and bettas), but sometimes the names are far off. The following list features fish with common names starting with G.

Garbei Cory

Corydoras garbei. This type of catfish is found in the slow-moving rivers in South America. Most cory catfish are small, peaceful, bottom-dwelling scavengers that prefer to live in a group. Poecilia reticulata is one of the most popular pet fish and is a native of northern South America. Guppies species have a wide variety of colors, all featuring beautiful fan-like tail fins.
