- Experienced pet owner
- 3+ years of freelance writing
- Dedicated humane society volunteer
After dog-walking and pet-sitting full-time for two years, she decided to write about it. She has contributed to The Spruce Pets and The Spruce Crafts since February 2018.
She first fell in love with crafting when she joined her local 4-H chapter. The club is usually centered on animals, especially farm animals, but Lauren's chosen path was crafts, cooking, and sewing. She got enough animal care experience at home with two exuberant Border Collies. Since then, she has been DIYing everything she can dream up.
Woodworking is a new hobby for her and she enjoys learning from her expert father-in-law in his backyard wood shop.
Lauren earned her Bachelors of Science degree in environmental science from Western Washington University in 2013. Skillshare classes, craft clubs, and animal behavior classes made her into the pet and craft writer she is today.Awards and Publications
Most of Lauren's writing is focused on her expertise, the environment. She has published nearly 50 articles for Earth911 so far, ranging from fun lists on how to be green to explanations of scientific studies. She published an article on the environmentally friendly cooking technique, the Blend, on Huffington Post and prides herself on her ability to write compelling stories in a variety of subjects.
