Jamie Whittenburg, DVM

Dr. Whittenburg is a practicing veterinarian and owner of Kingsgate Animal Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. For over 16 years, she has dedicated her life to bettering those of pets and their owners, both in her practice and through her writing. From 2011 to 2013, she served as Program Director of the Vista College  Veterinary Technology program, which she developed from scratch, including writing all curriculum and teaching. Since then, she's continued working as a veterinarian and freelance writer within the veterinary field.

Dr. Whittenburg has over 16 years of experience as a practicing veterinarian and five years of experience as a veterinary technician before she attended veterinary school. Once an equine-specific veterinarian, she now sees cats, dogs, and small exotic pets exclusively. Dr. Whittenburg has a special interest in feline medicine and surgery.


Dr. Whittenburg received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Texas Tech University. She then went on to complete her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and completed post-graduate training at the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine.
