Laura Mueller is a writer and editor with a strong passion for pets, animal rescue, and cat videos. In addition to writing about animals, Laura also writes about healthcare innovation and brand marketing. When she’s not working, Laura enjoys cooking, reading, yoga, and lingering walks around the neighborhood with her dog.

Laura spent over seven years as the editor-in-chief of Tails Pet Magazine, a Chicago-based pet publication focused on animal rescue and pets as part of the family. She has been a freelance writer and editor for almost eight years.
In addition to her work, Laura spends time volunteering in animal rescue, including Chicago’s Anti-Cruelty Society and Starfish Animal Rescue, a rescue transport organization.
Laura graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a degree in history and a concentration in post-World War II Soviet social history. Laura credits her undergraduate experience with honing her research, writing, and editing skills, though she doesn’t have much opportunity anymore to display her Soviet history expertise.
From DePaul, Laura headed to the University of Miami in Florida to pursue her law degree. It took her one year to realize she'd rather write than argue, so she left law school to begin a writing internship with The Daily Muse (now The Muse) and to take on the editor role at Tails Pet Magazine.
