If you’re looking for a high-quality dog collar that comes in a huge range of fun colors and patterns, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better value than the LupinePet Dog Collar.
We purchased the LupinePet Dog Collar so our reviewer could put it to the test on her dog. Keep reading for our full product review.
As you browse stylish dog collars, you’ll undoubtedly come across the LupinePet Dog Collar, which comes in a number of collars, patterns, and sizes. These products are especially popular in New England, as they’re made locally in New Hampshire!
However, as with any purchase, you’re probably wondering whether the product’s construction measures up to its look—are these collars durable? Can they withstand your dog’s pulling? We wondered the same thing, so we tested out a LupinePet collar on Addy, our 6-month-old golden retriever, who’s always happy to help with product testing in exchange for a few cookies. Here’s what we decided.

Design: Vibrant patterns and a simple design
The main appeal of LupinePet’s collars has to be the brand’s fun designs. There are around 20 original patterns, including motifs with flowers, geometric patterns, turtles, paw prints, hearts, and more. The company offers plain colors, holiday designs, and “micro-batch” designs as well. Plus, you can choose from three collar widths—½ inch, ¾ inch, and 1 inch—to find the perfect look and fit for your pooch. If you like coordinating, the brand sells matching leashes, harnesses, and even ID tags.

We choose the ¾-inch collar in “Rainsong,” a vibrant blue, green, and purple pattern that we thought would look pretty against Addy’s blonde fur, and we weren’t disappointed! The bold colors really popped against her coat, making her look like a little fashion icon. Plus, the patterns are actually woven into the product, so they don’t fade or wear off over time.

The collar itself is a simple design. It’s made from woven nylon with a welded stainless steel D-ring where you can attach a leash and/or ID tags. It clips shut with a quick-release plastic buckle, and we found it was easy to put on and take off. Given that we usually let Addy hang out “naked” when she’s inside, we definitely appreciate a collar that’s quick and easy to attach.

Comfort: No extra features
The LupinePet Dog Collar is bare-bones as collars go. While other options include padding and rounded edges to ensure the collar is comfortable for your pooch, LupinePet products are simple and straightforward. They’re made from one standard strip of nylon, and to be honest, it’s not the softest material ever.
Addy has a decently thick coat, so the collar never seemed to bother her—even if she was pulling on her leash. However, if your pooch has a thin coat or sensitive skin, we can see how this collar might irritate him or her.
One good thing we noticed is that this collar dries quickly thanks to its nylon construction. Addy loves swimming, and even when she got it soaking wet, the collar dried out within a half-hour or so. Plus, the colors didn’t run or stain her fur—a problem we’ve encountered with other cheap products.
If your pooch loves the water, keep him or her safe with one of the best dog life jackets.

Sizing: Perfect for growing dogs
This isn’t the first LupinePet Collar Addy has worn. When she was a teeny pup, we used a ½-inch LupinePet Collar on her, and one of the best aspects of the product was that it had several inches of adjustability. We were able to use her first collar through her major growth spurts, roughly from the ages of 12 weeks up to 6 months. While most collars only adjust an inch or two, LupinePet collars have several inches of extra material, making them ideal for growing pups.
For her new “big girl” collar, we went with the 13 to 22-inch model, and it fits her perfectly. She’s only 6 months old, so she may still have some growing left to do, but we feel confident that this collar will fit her when she’s full grown. The company offers a total of nine sizes that will fit even the smallest and largest dogs with necks anywhere from 6 to 31 inches! Plus, as we mentioned above, you can choose from three collar widths to find the ideal fit.

Durability: Well-made, but not heavy-duty
There’s no denying that the Lupine Adjustable Dog Collars are well-made. The materials are high-quality, and the stitching feels very secure—the collar we tested didn’t budge, even when Addy was doing her worst pulling. Plus, the company offers a lifetime guarantee, and it’ll replace broken ones, even if your dog chews it. That’s how confident the brand is in its product!
With that said, these aren’t heavy-duty collars. If you have a strong dog, we’d recommend a collar that’s thicker and has more reinforcement. However, for the average pup, LupinePet collars are a great no-frills option.
Price: A great value
One of the best things about this collar is its affordable price. These stylish, well-made collars retail for between $10 and $30, depending on the pattern and size. The model we bought for Addy costs just $12, which we think is an unbeatable value for a product that she’ll be able to wear for years to come.

Competition: Different styles for different dogs
EzyDog Neo Dog Collar: If you’re looking for a heavier-duty collar with additional features, the EzyDog Neo Collar, which we also tested, fits the bill. This model is thick and rugged with a layer of padded neoprene, reflective trim, hook-and-loop reinforcement on the sizer, a separate ID clip, and more. It doesn’t come in as many patterns as the LupinePet collar, but it’s only a little more expensive.
Soft Touch Leather Padded Dog Collar: Want your dog to look like a million bucks? The Soft Touch Leather Collar we reviewed is an incredibly luxe option that’s still surprisingly affordable. The leather looks high-end, and the interior is lined with padding to ensure your dog is always comfy. However, it’s harder to put on and take off than the LupinePet product, and it costs more.

Yes, you’ll love the LupinePet collar!
We think pretty much everyone would be happy with the LupinePet Dog Collar. The beautiful, vibrant patterns are the main selling point for these collars, and while they’re not super heavy-duty, we think the materials and construction are of decent quality.
